Torgny Hits with “Oil Panic” Album
The first single off Oil Panic is the funktronica of Grønn Extra, a heavy hitter that is sure to stick with you after your first listen. Inspired by childhood memories of electro and thriving 80s urban pop culture, Torgny says “with Grønn Extra, it seemed like the only way forward was to acknowledge the past.” Reminiscent of Prince’s Lady Cab Driver and Chromeo’s Needy Girl, Torgny’s powerful vocals expertly layer atop the original melody and meticulously crafted rhythms to set this song in a category all its own.
Torgny has this late 1990’s – early 2000’s feel to their song above Gr0nn Extra. It made me remember things like the “Axel F Theme” from Beverly Hills Cop, with Eddie Murphy. It’s nice to hear music with influences from the past and not just literally doing a cover, though if done right I love covers to. Check Torgny out I above, I believe you will like the sound.

Continuing on our raucous roll, we have a stacked night for November 21st. Starting the night off is ever eclectic Bur Gur, up from Orange County for the occasion. Julia Weldon’s latest Music Video
JULIA WELDON
PREMIERES NEW VIDEO FOR
“YOU NEVER KNOW”“You Never Know” is one of themost vulnerable tracks on Julia Weldon’s sophomore album Light Is a Ghost.
Produced by Saul MacWilliams (Ingrid Michaelson, Dan Romer) and featuring Adam Christgau (Sia, Tegan and Sara) on drums, the album showcases Weldon’s storytelling, voice, and unmistakable charisma.
She draws on everything from indie folk to blues rock, dialoguing with current artists like Bon Iver, Iron and Wine, and Cat Power as well as legends like Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith and Suzanne Vega.
Julia Weldon’s possessing personality and captivating music crosses bridges and divides. With unfailing fingers, she tells stories that feel both intensely personal and widely universal. Unapologetically herself, Weldon’s songs grab you— asking you to pull up a chair, pour yourself a whiskey, and stay a while.
The song overall I liked. I was a little zoned out at the beginning because the intro was a little too long and she didn’t actually start singing until a bet later than what I would’ve liked. Be careful not to lose the audience. I like that you went with a melodic song and really enjoyed the lyrics to. I think the beginning of the video was really confusing and it could have been executed a bit differently. Overall I think Julia has a lot of great things going for her and is looking at a bright future of growing and conquering. April B.

Phildel is on a North American Tour
Phildel has a strong high voice. Her style of music reminds me a little of Enya. It is very melodic and has a mystical sound to it. The videos carry that feel as well, especially with the black masks that the women wear. Check her tour dates below and be sure to mark you calendar for the date in your community.
Her debut album The Disappearance of the Girl, out now on Decca Records, won praise throughout the world, with the UK’s Clash Magazine calling it “an irresistible masterpiece.”Phildel is pleased to have the opportunity to perform its songs, along with songs from her forthcoming EP The Glass Ghost, for North American audiences this November and December.
