With Fans On Her Side, Scarlett Rabe’s “Battle Cry” Video Wins Fight for Rotation on mtvU
According to mtvU.com, fans helped “Battle Cry” to an “impressive victory” on last week’s round of The Freshmen
The MuseBox today announced that Scarlett Rabe’s“Battle Cry” was overwhelmingly selected by fans as their favorite video during last week’s round of mtvU’s The Freshmen, putting the video into regular rotation on mtvU, MTV’s award-winning college channel. Scarlett, the songwriter known for her “haunting riffs and empowering words” (Marie Claire), will receive maximum exposure this week, as mtvU reaches nearly 9 million U.S. college students. It is the largest, most comprehensive television network just for college students. Scarlett, forbidden as a child from participating in popular culture, but now with well over one million Facebook fans, has earned comparisons to Florence and the Machine and Feist. “Battle Cry” is the first single off Scarlett’s new record, Scarlett, which is available in her online store.

Boy Epic is Hitting It

boy epic

Boy Epic’s ‘Paralyzed’ is the perfect example for less is more. The flowing, softer instrumental’s lets the listener actually hear the lyrics. The slower tempo also allows us to understand the lyrics. I love the new idea of how love feels, everyone’s heard tons of love songs and sometimes they can all start to blend together. ‘Paralyzed’ sticks out because of the ballad feel of it mixed with creative lyrics. The video went very well with the song, it complemented it in all the right ways. I’ve talked about how I hate videos that are just words but there is a difference between those videos and Boy Epic’s. Instead of forcing the listener to also read multiple slides he is keeping their interest by slowly unveiling what the picture and word is. It keeps the listener engaged and they’re less likely to exit out of the video. I also really enjoy Boy Epic’s unique sense of style and how he is photographed. Prince reboot, anyone?

Cameron The Public Making a Splash!

CAMERON THE PUBLIC

DEBUTED THE THEME SONG FOR THE FILM “MANNY” AT THE FILM’S SXSW PREMIERE

+

COVER OF MICHAEL JACKSON’S “MAN IN THE MIRROR” FEATURED ON GREY’S ANATOMY LAST WEEK!

Cameron The Public, a high-energy pop-rock band fueled by the relentless ambition of singer/songwriter Cameron Rafati, will debuted their theme song, “Face Your Destiny” from the Manny Pacquiao documentary, “Manny.” The film will premiered last Saturday, March 8th at SXSW. The video for “Face Your Destiny” was shown directly after the film.

Additionally, Cameron The Public’s cover of Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” was featured in the March 6th episode of Grey’s Anatomy (ABC).  The track was produced by J2 and is available on the ABC website.

Cameron the Public has a nice sound.  The “Face Your Destiny” track for the Manny Pacquiao documentary is a great inspirational type of song to get you up and face what life throws at you head on. The “Man in the Mirror” cover has a different feel (much slower), but has no less impact.  Check out the YouTube video below, from “Manny Pacquiao Movie” channel, for “Face Your Destiny”- Richard

Rachel Ann Weiss “Dark is Coming”

Rachel Ann Weiss Wages War on Emotional Detachment with Heartfelt New EP

NYC songstress counters culture of irony and disconnect with sounds of sincerity

“Dark Is Coming” streaming LIVE on AMERICAN SONGWRITER

“Dark is Coming” is a beautiful song.  The instruments have a nice beat going and with Rachel singing in a soft voice the instruments don’t over power her.  A very clean and crisp song.  Those looking for a more relaxed style of music will definitely enjoy Rachel.  So take the time to check her out and tell your friends about her.  – Richard
