X-Men: First Class

I’m sure all of your patrons will remind you, but I’m here as well.  Don’t forget that X-Men: First Class comes out this weekend.  See the trailer below provided by Yahoo Movies.

Thor: Movie Special, Ep. 1

The Thor: Movie Special, Ep. 1 is ready to download.  These movie specials will give librarians different views from different age groups and interests.  The podcast features my family: April my daughter, who just turned 13 and is like any other young teenage girl; Logan  my son, who will be turning 16 and is a rabid reader; Michelle my wife who likes some comic book things but not all; and myself, the professed comic book guy.  We sit around the table, enjoy some ice cream and discuss the movie that we recently watched.

Thor: Movie Special Episode 1

An Animated Thor

Thor: Tales of Asgard will be an animated movie that librarians will want to add to their animation collection.  The Blu-ray and DVD is set for release May 17.  Thanks to Marvel’s website for the following trailer.

Cutting up Comics?!

ICv2’s site is reporting that Upper Deck has collected older comics from Marvel’s past and are trimming out panels to attach to trading cards.  The set is call Marvel Beginnings Series 1.  This subset of cards is Marvel Ultimate Collection Panel Forms.  Even though they are cutting up comic books, shutter, I think this is a cool idea.  Let you patrons know about this new chase set built within the common cards of Marvel Beginnings.  I think most will enjoy it and might be the only way to own a piece of history like this.

Thor Takes Box Office

It is being reported that Thor topped the box office this past weekend by taking in $66 Million.  A respectful opening, but will it retain the top spot for long?  Priest is hitting theaters this weekend to try and take Thor’s place at the top of the heap.

New Conan Trailer

Here’s a new trailer for the upcoming Conan the Barbarian movie, provided by Yahoo Movies.  This movie will not only appeal to you fantasy fans in the library, but comic book fans as well.  There have been different versions of Conan within the comic book medium.  The one I remember most is the Marvel run.

The 1st Big Hammer Strike of the Summer…

Thor opens up the Summer Blockbusters at the movies.  I don’t think anyone will forget, but remind your patrons that enjoy comic books, that Thor is coming out this weekend.  See the trailer below thanks to Yahoo Movies.

Ender’s Game at Summit?

Librarians take note Summit Entertainment, which has the rights to the Twilight Saga, has acquired the rights to Orson Scott Card’s Ender Game.  Gavin Hood is currently named as the director for the live action movie.  If all goes well this Saga will replace the Twilight Saga.  Some of the new attention for this could be from Marvel recently publishing adaptations of the Ender Saga in comic book form.  Follow the link to ICv2 for the full article.
