An Evil Manga

AnimeNews Network is reporting that starting with the February issue of Weekly Shonen Champion Magazine Serizawa’s Biohazard Marhawa Desire manga will begin serialization.  This title has ties to CAPCOM’s Biohazard/Resident Evil games.  Since this is related to Resident Evil and there being several fans of this franchise in the Western market, this should be a shoe-in for be translated for the English speaking audience.  Late next year or in 2013 I wouldn’t be surprised to see this being offered to purchase for your library’s partons and the your library itself.

Bento Box Recipes

Here is something to tell your anime/manga patrons and in particular One Piece fans.  Shueisha, a Japanese publishers, is releasing a recipe book inspired by Eiichiro Odo’s manga One Piece. The book will be entitled One Piece Kaizoku Bento Book and will sell for a suggested 1,380 yen or $18.00 in U.S. currency.  If they have any friends in Japan or one of the Websites that sell Japanese anime/manga items might get this book for them to purchase.  It would be a unique piece for thier collection and it would be fun translating the book to make the recipes.

AMV of the Week

This weeks amv comes from YouTuber Parasite02.  Parasite02 takes Enya’s song “Book of Days” and blends it with clips from Chrono Trigger.  I love Enya’s work, but I wasn’t sure how it would work with an AMV.  Surprisingly with the Chrono Trigger clips it works really well.  The fantasy and fast paced elements of the clips work great with the tempo of “Book of Days”.  You can find this AMV on YouTube with the tag “Chrono Trigger AMV – Chronology Anthology – Enya Book of Days”  or you can watch it below.  Thanks for a great AMV Parasite02.

If any of your patrons still want to give to the Japanese Society after the earthquake you might want to tell them about this possibility.  The Amazon Kindle Store has an 84 page charity book featuring Gurren Lagann entitled “Believe in Yourself”.  It sells for $9.99 and the proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist in the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network for this information.

AMV of the Week

This weeks AMV is from a few years back.  YouTuber technotronica made this AMV with Will Smith’s “Wild Wild West” combined with scenes from Trigun.  The editing has great moments were the images match up with the songs lyrics perfectly.  For this persons first AMV he/she did a great job.  However, this AMV was also his/her last because there are no other listings for this YouTuber.  You can find this on YouTube with the tag “Trigun-Wild, wild west AMV” or you can check it out below.

New Company Testing the Waters

ICv2 reports that Innovation Network Corp. of Japan (INCJ) is funding a new Japanese entertainment company.  The company is All Nippon Entertainment Works and is scheduled to launch in October.  The company will have it’s fingers in films, TV shows, novels, manga, and other aspects of entertainment.  Hopefully this company might pick up some of the slack that was left when TokyoPop left North America.
