Warner Bros. Trying to get Cruise

AnimeNews Network is reporting through Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros. is trying to talk Tom Cruise into staring as the lead in All I Need is Kill.  The movie will be an adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel by the same name.  The concept is that a battle armored soldier is re-incarnated over and over during an alien invasion.

Beasi Talks about Canada Case

Melinda Beasi of Manga Bookshelf has written a thoughtful one page essay over at Comic Book Legal Defense Funds website concerning Brandon X’s criminal case in Canada.  In her essay she references George Orwell’s 1984 to great effect.  It is a strong reminder of how striking that this case is being conducted in today’s society.  Use the link below to read the full essay, it is well worth it.

AMV of the Week

This weeks AMV is from YouTuber nuttyacornsquirrel.  This individual has taken some flack over this AMV, however the main point of doing AMV’s is to have fun and put a smile on someone’s face.  Even if it is just one person, that is one person that you have given a fun experience for.  The song he uses is “Let it Rock” performed by Kevin Rudolf, which was edited to scenes from Soul Eater.  It’s a catchy song to a fun video.  You can see the video on YouTube under the tag “Soul eater let it rock” or check it out below:

More Yu-Gi-Oh

With Yu-Gi-Oh still going strong, CW 4Kids Toonzai is debuting Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal, October 15.  The franchise is still strong here in the U.S., so this is a title for librarians that keep track of their Anime Collection to place in their forth coming folder as a possible purchase in the future.  You can watch the trailer below thanks to IcV2 and 4KidsTV on YouTube:

AMV of the Week

This week’s AMV comes from YouTuber iloveheroes.  This individual took images from the Fullmetal Panic! anime and edited them to the song “Kiss the Girl” performed by Ashley Tisdale.  There are a few pixelated parts, but it doesn’t distract from the viewing.  I right there along with iloveheroes, I love the two leads of the anime (Souske & Chidori) and when ever I see them I get a smile on my face because the story is so much fun.  If you want to find the AMV on YouTube it is under the tag “Full Metal Panic – Kiss The Girl” or you can check it out below.  It was a fun video iloveheroes, great job.

Trigun Trailer

Check out the trailer for Trigun: Badlands Rumble below provided by FUNimation’s YouTube channel.  The DVD and Blu-ray will be available on September 27 if you haven’t already pre-ordered it for your library.

AMV of the Week

This weeks AMV comes from YouTuber Mewprincess3.  Mewprincess3 uses the song “Just Haven’t Met You Yet” performed by Michael Buble and edits images from Fruits Basket to the lyrics.  This is a perfect fit to me.  Through the whole series Kyo and Tohru didn’t truly meet each other until the very end.  If your library doesn’t have a copy of Fruits Basket and you can find one it would be a great addition to the anime collection.  Everyone wanted Fruits Basket to have a second season but at this point I don’t think that will happen and it might be for the best (can lightening strike again?)  Let the anime series be the best that it is and patrons that want to get the full story can finish it up in the manga.  You can find the video at YouTube under the tag “Kyo Just Hasn’t Met Tohru Yet – Fruits Basket (Reuploaded).  Great job Mewprincess3 of marrying up this great song with a great anime.
