Japanese 2012 Recruitment Poster

Japan’s Self-Defense Forces has been using anime inspired recruitment posters since 2010 to inspire young adults to join.  The 2012 recruitment poster is pictured above.  It’s basically the girl e-mailing her boyfriend that she has seen him on TV and he looks really cool.  You can get the whole story through the link below:

Blood-C Anime Movie

Here is an Anime movie that will be coming out in Japan on June 2 and will probably be picked up by a North American distributor before it’s all said and done.  The movie is Blood-C: The Lask Dark by Production I.G. and CLAMP.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network and YouTube for the following trailer:

AMV of the Week

This weeks AMV comes from YouTuber xxxHentaiGirlXXX.  This individual took “Party in the U.S.A.” by Miley Cyrus and intercuts scenes from a varity of anime.  Some anime I recognized were Perfect Blue, One Piece, Lucky Star…and many others.  This is just a fun song that spotlighted several women in the animes.  Don’t let the YouTuber handle scare you away from this particular AMV, it’s more of a celebration of these characters, it’s not derogatory in any way I can see.  You can check this AMV out on YouTube under the tag “Party in the USA – Anime Style” or check it out below.

VIZ to Publish Redakai

Here is a title most libraries will probably want to add to their manga collections.  VIZ Media ia planning to publish Redakai.  This title will appeal to you animation and TCG players, since Radakai has an anime by Marathon, on Cartoon Network, and a TCG put out by Spin Master.  There is no set date on release for this title yet, but you will want to start watching your purchasing sources and alert your purchasing agent and they might be able to pre-order the first book.

AMV of the Week Do Over

Didn’t realize I had already done the tribute video for Serenity, so here is another AMV for you.  This one comes from YouTuber SimplyMadStudiOs.  This AMV takes the song “Like it Loud” performed by Myah Marie and edits it to several anime: Bleach; Ookami-san; Toradora; Angel Beats; Higurashi; Macross Frontier; Shuffle!; Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya; and Umineko, as stated by the maker of the AMV.  It spotlights the female characters of these anime as the tough ladies that they are.  The transitions are timed with the beats of the song which make it a fast paced video.  The added background isn’t distracting, but add to the video.  Just a great video with a great song nice going SimplyMadStudiOs.  You can find the AMV on YouTube under “[SmS] We like it Loud! [Collab]” or check it out below:

ZIP! Gets Rurouni Trailer

ZIP! a Japanese morning television showed a trailer for the upcoming Rurouni Kenshin live action movie.  This is one movie librarians will want to keep an ear to the ground on because it should eventually make it’s way to North American markets.  Kenshin might be an older manga series, but it is still one of the most loved series and when new readers come into the format this is one of the series that is suggested to them to read and the manga and anime should be on must library shelves.  Thanks to AnimeNews Network and YouTuber MrZoom91 for the trailer below. You will have to set through a little of ZIP! before the trailer starts, which is approximately 45 seconds in:
