If you have not picked this graphic novel up yet for your library’s collection, it would make a great addition to your Graphic Novel Collection, especially if you have the Young Adult novels within your Young Adult Collection. Thanks to YouTuber rhpubgroup for the following trailer:
Movie Poster for Kenshin
This is for all of the Rurouni Kenshin fans out there. The first image of the movie poster for the live action adaptation.
AMV Spotlight of the
This weeks AMV comes from YouTuber potakun. Potakun takes the song “Boom, Boom, Pow” performed by The Black Eyed Peas and edits it to a variety of anime. The clips are smoothly edited together and potakun has matched up lyrics of the song with some of the characters speaking actions within the clips. The sink is pretty good and makes the video funner to watch when the characters appear as if they are singing the song. Great job potakun you can find the AMV on YouTube under “Boom, Boom, Boom! AMV (Boom Boom Pow – Blackeyed Peas)” or you can check it out here:
Bleach Manga to Speed Up Publishing
Viz Media will be speeding up Tite Kubo’s Bleach with volume 40. There will be two volumes per month until the end of 2012 and the series will be caught up to Volume 53 at that time. This is an attempt to get the release schedule closer to the Japanese release dates for Bleach.
Metal Gear Solid Novel
Viz Media is releasing Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots novel, June 19th. This title will be one that appeals not only to the anime/manga fan, but also your library’s gaming fans. The project MSRP will be $15.99. When you get it in at your library you could spotlight other gaming titles that have been made into novels (i.e. Resident Evil, MASS Effect, and Doom just to name a few that have been published over the years).
Hero Tales Available
FUNimation released Hero Tales this week. This is one that you will want to consider for your library’s anime collection. It is by the same person that made Fullmetal Alchemist, so that fact alone will make it of interest to your library’s anime patrons. Thanks to FUNimation Channel on YouTube for the following trailer:
Toonami Coming Back to Adult Swim
Cartoon Network is bringing back Toonami to it’s Adult Swim block on May 27 at 12:00 a.m. (midnight). Most of the shows will be what you would think: Bleach; Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood; Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig; and Cowboy Bebop. However two shows will be airing that are new to the block: Deadman Wonderland (12:30 a.m.) and Casshern Sins (1:00 a.m.) It’s good to see Toonami coming back and hopefully they will expand on their variety of shows in the future.
009 Re: Cyborg
009 Re:Cyborg is a title you might want to mention to your library’s purchasing agent to put on their list to purchase for you anime collections. This is an adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori’s Science Fiction manga 009 Cyborg which was also made into a anime series. This title is an animated movie by Production I.G. and SANZIGEN Animation Studios and will be distributed by T-Joy in Japan in October. So the title probably won’t show up in the North American market until December of 2012 or into the early part of 2013. Thanks to AnimeNews Network and YouTube for the following trailer:
30th Anniversary of Macross
For the 30th Anniversary of Macross a traveling exhibit is making its rounds across Japan. This last Saturday it opened at the Sunshine City Complex in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The exhibit is called “30th Anniversary of Macross Super Dimension Exhibition~Valkyrie de Sasotte!~”. The exhibit features several Macross images and statues, but the big center piece for the exhibit is the full-scale VF-25F Messiah Valkyrie Variable Fighter. Because of the smaller size of this complex only the top portion of the Valkyrie is on display. When the exhibit makes it way to Osaka it will be in a larger complex and will have the complete Valkyrie on display. For more images follow the link below:
Grand Opening of Gundam Collection
If you know anyone that is traveling to Tokyo this is one stop they will definitely want to visit. At Diver City Tokyo Plaza on Tokyo’s Odaiba island the new Gundam Front Tokyo Entertainment Complex had it’s Grand Opening on April 19. The video below is courtesy of AnimeNews Network, YouTube, and Mainichi Shimbun newspaper’s Mantan TV website. The video starts outside the complex, moves into the Gundam Cafe/Gift Shop and then into the collection of models. It doesn’t show the complete collection, but it gives you an idea of what is in store for you.
