The promotional will start September 13 and will continue while supplies last. Japan just has some cool promotional tie-ins, that’s all their is to it.
Yes that’s right Nami’s prized Mikan oranges will be sold in stores (straight out of One Piece), just not in the U.S. Starting in October Japanese supermarkets and department stores will begin selling Nami’s Mikan ~Premium~ oranges. They are prized for their “sweetness” You can see an add for them above and there will be different size boxes that customers can choose from with different artwork on each size. Just plain fun!

This week’s spotlight is on YouTuber malpercio6. The AMV that was created takes the song “Dynamte” performed by Taio Cruz and edits it around clips from several anime. The editing was done very cleanly. The cuts from scene to scene were done with the bass (drum) beat of the song. Black and white imagery and images of malpercio6’s own design (mainly stars with the words written within the stars) worked to great appeal. The song itself is just a great upbeat song and no matter what you do, I beat you head will be moving to the beat. Great job malpercio6. This story is one for everyone that you don’t ever know what will inspire someone, so don’t ever discount any work of art or artist. Kohei Uchimura, World Champion Gymnast, just won Gold for the Men’s All-Around event for gymnastics at the 2012 London Olympics. He stated that one of his inspirations for entering the sport and his work ethic in his training came from the manga Ganba! Fly High, that is centered around the sport of gymnastics. The manga was co-created by Shinji Morisue, 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Gold Medalist for the Horizontal Bar, help create the manga for just this reason to inspire young individuals to enter the sport of gymnastics.

Librarians that work on the anime collection will want to place this on their calendar. The series of Kazue Kato’s Blue Exercist manga has spawned a movie in Japan. The movie will debut in Japanese theaters August 25. Since this is a fairly popular title in North America it will more than likely have a DVD release for our region. Here is one movie libraries will want to make sure they pick up, for their anime fans, when it becomes available to purchase. The movie is the live action adaptation of Nobuhiro Watsuki’s manga Rurouni Kenshin. Yahoo! Japan movie section released the trailer for the upcoming movie, which is slated for release to theaters in Japan August 25.
