Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 23 Hey, Trunade!

The Twenty-third card is Hey, Trunade!, which is a spell that returns all set spells and traps to the hand. It is a lesser version of the card Giant Trunade that does the same thing without needing the cards to be face-down. It can be useful against Paleozoic decks or anything else with a lot of traps. It can be more useful than the Giant Trunade if you run continuous or equip spells and traps, but if not then you would be better off using the other one. A decent card, and thank you to Konami and Hill and Knowlton Strategies for giving us this Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 22 Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries

The twenty-second card is Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries, which is a good way of getting rid of extra deck monsters. It has no attack and decent defense, but it’s main use is that when your opponent controls more monsters than you, you can discard it to chose a monster from your extra deck and banish every copy of it in your opponents extra deck. It is great with links, especially if you’re using similar decks or aiming at cards that are out in most decks. It is one of a set of five hand traps that have four words separated by the & symbol and discard to activate. The hand traps seem to be mostly unrelated to each other despite their similar names and activations. A good weapon against the extra deck, and thank you to Hill and Knowlton Strategies and Konami for giving us this Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 21 Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir

The twenty-first card is Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir, probably filling in for the children with sugar-plums or a creature to go with the mouse. Bagooska is a rank 4 XYZ monster that takes two materials, and loses one each standby phase, so it will last for three turns before it runs out of materials and destroys itself. Its effect is different depending if its attacking or defending. If it is in attack mode then it can’t be destroyed or targeted by your opponents effects, and if it is in defense mode then everything else goes into defense mode and the things that were already there lose any activated effects. It’s moderately powerful at 2100 attack and 2000 defense, and if you use cards like Numbers Overlay Boost or XYZ Override then you can make it last on the field even longer. Its defense has gotten somewhat less effective because of link monsters and their inability to go into defense mode. Overall a great shield and a decent attacker, and thank you to Konami and Hill and Knowlton Strategies for giving us this Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 20 Toy Magician

The twentieth card is Toy Magician, who has the effect of being set like a spell or trap and summoning itself upon its destruction. It shares that ability with the Artifact archetype and the Silver Sentinel. Whenever this card leaves face down defense position it gets to destroy spell and trap cards equal to how many of it are on the field. It only gets summoned if your opponent is the one to get it off your spell/trap zone. It is apparently part of an archetype seen in the series, but in real life there seems to be this card, Toy Knight which seems almost completely unrelated, and Toy Vendor which is support for the Fluffal archetype. It would go well with cards that can flip it face down like Tsukuyomi and Magical Hats, so it can get its effect off multiple times. A decent card that can act like Mystical Space Typhoon and tank a hit at the same time, thank you Konami and Hill and Knowlton Strategies for giving us this Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 19 Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest

The nineteenth card is Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest.  It lets you discard a card to summon two other 1 or 2 star beasts.  There are three other Mystical Beasts of the Forest that are made to work with this card, Kalantosa who destroys something and Uniflora who summons another beast from the hand or grave, and Alpacaribou who can’t be summoned by Valerifawn.  There are other beings of the forest, but none who are capable of being summoned by Valerifawn.  You can also get a variety of minor support monsters for other groups, notably Ojama and Fabled.  There is actually a 2050 monster that you can get with this.  You could also use this to go to almost any 1 or 2 rank XYZ monsters, or use it to go into a link monster.  It looks to be a pretty good card, and thank you to Hill and Knowlton Strategies and Konami for getting us this Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 18 Hoshiningen

The eighteenth card is a Christmas tree topper, Hoshiningen.  It is a monster that boosts light monsters by 500 attack and weakens dark monsters by 400 attack, it has 1000 attack as long as its effect is active.  It could be fairly useful in fairy decks, especially since it is a fairy as well.  If you can keep it alive it could be moderately useful, especially if your opponent uses dark monsters, probably only kept in the side deck.  There are actually similar monsters for all six of the main attributes, and they all have upgraded link versions, this ones being Hip Hoshiningen.  Either way, thank you Hill and Knowlton Strategies and Konami for the Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 17 Lonefire Blossom

The seventeenth card is Lonefire Blossom, a fireworks plant.  It lets you sacrifice a plant on the field to get a plant from your deck.  It’s got low enough stats that you’ll generally just tribute it for it’s own effect, but if you have the Swords of Revealing Light or a similar card you can use it to get specific sets of monsters out, and if you have the Moon Mirror Shield you can keep it on the field and keep on switching out your plants.  Gigaplant can go great with this, special summoning a plant you tribute for Lonefire Blossoms effect, even itself.  This could go well with basically any plant deck.  I actually might add it to my own deck.  It is a great way of searching out plants, and thank you Konami and Hill and Knowlton Strategies for getting us this Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 16 Gift Exchange

For the sixteenth card we have Yu-Gi-Ohs Gift Exchange, which has you and your opponent banish a card from your deck to put into the others hand in the end phase.  I can see this being useful when using a Bad Reaction to Simochi and Darklord Nurse Reficule, giving your opponent a continuous healing card like Darklord Marie.  It can also mean a bit more damage for Secret Barrel or Des Koala, and increasing the effect of Energy Drain.  There are also a few cards like Penalty Game! that require your opponent to have a specific number of cards that you can increase their hand to.  Other than Gift Exchange, Exchange is also a Yu-Gi-Oh card, and if you give them a card they can’t use but you can, Exchange let’s you grab it on the next turn, though your opponent will get another of your cards, this time of their choice.  An okay card, but definitely on theme.  Thank you Hill and Knowlton Strategies and Konami for getting us this Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 15 Token Feastevil

The fifteenth card is a party called Token Feastevil .  It is a trap activated whenever a token is special summoned, it lets you destroy all of the tokens and deal 300 damage for each one.  It is good against decks that use tokens like Mecha Phantom Beasts, and can be useful when used with cards like Scape Goat or Multiply.  There are a few other cards featuring the goblins celebrating as well, with Token Sundae, Token Thanksgiving, and Oh Tokenbaum!.  If you use a lot of tokens then these might be good support, otherwise it should probably be in the side deck, waiting for you to be confident in using it against your opponent.  Pretty useful in the right situation and thank you to Hill and Knowlton Strategies and Konami for getting us this Advent Calendar.

Yu-Gi-Oh Advent Calendar 14 Cockadoodledoo

The fourteenth card is Cockadoodledoo, a rooster for the manger.  It can be summoned as a 3, 4, or 5 star monster.  If no one controls a monster you can special summon it as a 3 star, or if your opponent has monsters and you don’t have anything you can special summon it as a 4 star.  It has low attack but 2000 defense, and it’s a tuner.  The ability to special summon it means you might be able to get a 4 to 8 star synchro monster out in one turn.  This should be a great card if your have a lot of synchro monsters in your extra deck, and looks to best either on the first turn or after a Dark Hole was played.  Thank you to Hill and Knowlton Strategies and Konami for getting us this Advent Calendar.
