Pony Canyon has begun streaming the trailer for Hanasaku Iroha: Home Sweet Home on their YouTube channel. It looks to be a pretty descent movie. It will open nationwide in Japan March 30 and advance ticket buyers will receive a 5 card exclusive postcard set of the characters. Hopefully this will be brought to the North American market and the exclusive incentives would be cool to get with movies here in the States. Every so often this has happened with a free poster or even in the past a free comic book and do you remember the free Yu-Gi-Oh cards that came with the showing of that movie. I would like to see this more often, it just makes movie going so much neater. Anyway, back on topic here is the trailer for Hanasaku Iroha: Home Sweet Home:
Auto Museum Having Fun
The Toyota Auto Salon Amlux, an automobile museum, began a Girls und Panzer themed event. The event will run through February 11 and some of their activities are a bingo tournament, 2000GT plastic model building, Gran Turismo game simulator and a Toyota itasha car decorated with official Girls und Panzer decals. So if your plans include a visit to Japan, make the museum on of your stops.
Library Wars Live Action Film
Here is one movie I hope they bring over to the North American market. It’s the live action film, Library Wars, which stars Junichi Okada as Atsushi Dojo and Nana Eikura as Iku Kasahara. It is scheduled for an April release date in Japan and hopefully before the end of 2013 we will be able to purchase it. Thanks to AnimeNews Network for the following video showing the actors and some scenes from the film:
Sherlock Manga in the Works
The re-imagined Sherlock Holmes on BBC is getting a manga adaptation in Young Ace, a manga anthology magazine. Jay will be the creator behind the manga. At this time no North American publisher has picked up the rights to print the collected editions, if it makes it that far in Japan. However, if it is a hit in Japan and is collected, I personally can’t see a publisher passing this up. Keep your fingers crossed.
Rurouni Hits Ground Running
The live action movie of Rurouni Kenshin as of September 1 (last Saturday) has already been seend over 1 million times in Japan. It has already been licensed in over 60 countries. If it will get a theatrical run is iffy. More than likely it will get a limited release, but it will definitely get a Blu-ray release. A trailer has already been made in English and you can watch it below.
Gundam Seen with AXE
The Japanese arm of Unilever is having a promo were exclusive super deformed Gundam figures will be packaged with AXE Fragrance Body Spray and Body Soap. The promotional will start September 13 and will continue while supplies last. Japan just has some cool promotional tie-ins, that’s all their is to it.
Nami’s Prized Mikans Now in Stores
Yes that’s right Nami’s prized Mikan oranges will be sold in stores (straight out of One Piece), just not in the U.S. Starting in October Japanese supermarkets and department stores will begin selling Nami’s Mikan ~Premium~ oranges. They are prized for their “sweetness” You can see an add for them above and there will be different size boxes that customers can choose from with different artwork on each size. Just plain fun!
Resident Evil What?
CAPCOM has announced, not a new Resident Evil video game, but the first official Resident Evil Restaurant. This is were it would be fun to live in Japan with all of the themed restaurants that it has to offer. The Biohazard Cafe & Grill S.T.A.R.S. will be inside the Shibuya Parco shopping center in Tokyo’s Shibuya ward and is scheduled to be open on July 13. Besides food, although no menu has been set yet, the restaurant will off limited edition items for it’s patrons. So if you happen to be traveling to Tokyo or just happen to be in the area, this might be a fun side trip.
