Entertainment will be teaming up to bring out a Mass Effect anime movie. Production is already in motion and they are aiming for a Summer 2012 release to DVD. Libraries that have patrons that love the TCG/CCG’s and are involved in the organized play librarians will want to pass this news along to them. ICv2’s site, linked below, reports that in the Organized Play tournament kits there will be Naruto Chibi-style playmates that can be used as organized play prizes. Resident Evil Playing League
Libraries that have Trading Card Gamers will want to pass this along to them. Resident Evil: Alliance TCG came out in January and proved to be a hit, with an expansion set planned. Because of this, Bandai is planning to release a league play program. Think of the Magic The Gathering & Yu-Gi-Oh league play tournaments. Duel Masters Gets Another Chance
Anime News Network’s site is reporting that a new Duel Masters will be airing in the States. Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters will be on The Hub, which is a channel that Discovery Communications and Hasbro has recently started. It is stated that it will be released during the 2011-2012 television season. As I remember the first Duel Masters series, this will appeal to the ‘tween patrons in your library, that are also interested in Anime and/or TCG’s. Link on over to the full article below.

Yu-Gi-Oh Gold!
Librarians that have Trading Card Gamers will want to pass this news along to them. Especially if a patron is into Yu-Gi-Oh as a whole. This June Konami is releasing Yu-Gi-Oh Gold Series 4: Pyramids Edition only to hobby retailers (Comic books stores/Gaming stores). Hobby stores will also get 2 new playmats and there will be a third playmat that will only be available at stores that are Official Tournament stores. Jump over to ICv2 for the brief article.
History of RPG’s
ICv2 is reporting that Mongoose Publishing will be releasing a history of RPG’s (Role Playing Games) entitled Designs & Dragons. It will cover 60 years of gaming in the RPG arena. As of the time of the article there has been no firm release date or other ordering information. Keep on the look out for this title, it sounds like it will make a nice addition to your library collection. If not for anything else, but there isn’t much out there on the history of RPG’s.
Pokemon Black & White set Record
ICv2 & Anime News Network report that the new Pokemon Black & White Nintendo DS combined sold over 1 million units on it’s first day of release.
Tomb Raider Reboot
ICv2 reports that Graham King, GK Films, has acquired the rights to the Tomb Raider film rights. The site mentions Angelina Jolie, but really she has had her turn. Time for some new blood. GK Films recent credits are The Town and Rango. If handled correctly this can be a cool franchise. Link to the article below.
Free RPG Day June 18, 2011
Libraries that have a lot of interest in Role Playing Games might want to pass this along to their patrons. Free RPG Day is on June 18, 2011. This is a less known event than Free Comic Book Day, but your patrons might visit their local comic book stores to see if they are participating in this event. Pokemon Still Going Strong
ICv2 is reporting more 15th Anniversary news, see link below for full article. The 14th and 15th feature films will debut in Japan during the month of July. The titles of the two films are Pokemon: Vintini and the Black Hero: Zekrom and Pokemon: Vintini and the White Hero: Reshiram. These films feature the Legendary Pokemon listed in the titles, which tie into the release of the Pokemon TCG: Black and White set that was mentioned in an earlier post, see second link. When these two films make it to the U.S. to purchase these will be two films librarians will want to purchase to add to their anime collection for all of their Pokemon fans.
