New D&D Supplement

Librarians that have patrons that like role playing games will want to pass on this information.  Wizards of the Coast has announced a new Dungeons & Dragons supplement, Book of Vile Darkness, to be released in conjunction with the Syfy movie of the same name, in December.  The suggested price will be $29.95.  Libraries that pick up gaming books and have a collection of role playing manuals will also want to have this placed on pre-order so they can get it when it comes out.

New TCG For Star Trek

Librarians can let their patrons that enjoy Trading Card Gaming and also Star Trek might mention this new deck coming out.  Bandai has announced, but has not given an exact release date yet, of a Star Trek Deck Building Game with a suggested price of $39.99.  The deck will feature characters from the Star Trek: The Next Generation television series and movies.  Bandai is planning on demos of the deck at the following conventions: GenCon; Anime Expo; and ComicCon.

Some Super Rare Cards back in Circulation

Konami has announced that two super rare variant cards, from previous releases, will be included in the Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s: Hidden Arsenal Special Edition.  The two cards will be sorted at a one per box ratio.  The cards are: “XX-Saber Emmersblade” and “Naturia Pineapple”.  The cards are scheduled as a July 12 street date.  Any librarians that have patrons into the Trading Card Games can use this as a talking point and possibly be the first to tell them about it.

This is for all of your patrons that enjoy Trading Card Games.  Bandai is set to release Resident Evil Deck Building Game: Outbreak Expansion, during the fourth quarter.  With this expansion set new characters will be introduced and the player him or herself can become infected and continue playing as an infected character.

More Star Trek From WizKids


More news for your patrons that love games.  This time it is for Wizkids’ HeroClix line.  The Star Trek Expeditions Expansion set to hit stores in October.  This game is based on the J.J. Here is some trivia that your patrons that enjoy video gaming might find interesting.  AnimeNews Network, through YouTube, has provided the commercial below for Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and the short with Robin and Zelda Williams on how Zelda was named.  It is interesting to listen to and see how much video gaming has entered and infused with world culture.

Playing Video Games at the Supreme Court

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund’s site has posted a short article over Video Games.  The Supreme Court is currently looking at a case Brown v. EMA.  In this case California is seeking an appeal on a law the state passed, that minors can not purchase video games that have violent content because it is harmful to minors.  Within their own state the law was struck down as a violation of the 1st Amendment, hence the appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.  What is worry some to the CBLDF and others is that this law if left to stand could be expanded to include other forms of media to include comic books.  For the full article make the jump below.

WizKids goes to the Stars

WizKids is planning on releasing Star Trek Fleet Captains gaming set.  However, instead of having characters from the shows on stands they will have starships from the shows.  Your gamers might be interested in this and I bet your patrons that are into Star Trek will definitely be interested in this new product.
