AnimeNews Network is reporting that starting with the February issue of Weekly Shonen Champion Magazine Serizawa’s Biohazard Marhawa Desire manga will begin serialization. This title has ties to CAPCOM’s Biohazard/Resident Evil games. Since this is related to Resident Evil and there being several fans of this franchise in the Western market, this should be a shoe-in for be translated for the English speaking audience. Late next year or in 2013 I wouldn’t be surprised to see this being offered to purchase for your library’s partons and the your library itself.
New Magic Cards
Here is something you can relay to your patrons that enjoy gaming. Wizards of the Coast will be releasing the Magic the Gathering Innistrad set September 30. The set will have 264 cards, which will be double faced. The main thing though you will want to tell your patrons about is that some stores will have pre-release parties on September 24 and 25. At these events participants will receive a “Mayor of Avabruck/Howlpack Alpha” promo card and an “Achievement” card, while supplies last. So tell them to check with their local store to see if their store will be participating in this pre-release event.
New Yu-Gi-Oh Cards
Librarians might want to tell their Trading Card Gamers (specifically Yu-Gi-Oh gamers) about Kanomi’s next release. Coming in October, Kanomi is releasing the Yu-Gi-Oh, Legendary Collection 2: The Duel Academy Years binder. The binder will have 58 cards, which 28 will be foil cards. Rumored cards that come with the binder are 7 exclusive cards to the binder, 3 sacred beast cards and 3 Darkloid monsters (these monsters were previously only available as championship prizes). The suggested retail price for the binder is $29.99. Thanks to ICv2 for the news.
More fun in Japan
Japan just likes to have fun with their popular culture. It has been announced that the convenience store chain FamilyMart will be offering new pork buns. The pork buns will be Slime Nikuman, inspired by the role-playing game DragonQuest.

Here is a book that will be appreciated by you patrons that enjoy video games and art work. Dark Horse is releasing The Art of the Mass Effect Universe in February 2012 with a suggested price of $39.99. This is an item that the library could use to cross promote video gaming and your library’s art collection.

Here is what some of your gamers will be talking about shortly. Scheduled for release tomorrow, Tuesday, is the new booster packs Yu-Gi-Oh Generation Force. The set will contain 100 cards, which will include two of the most powerful XYZ Monsters “Tiras Keeper of Genesis” and “Adreus Keeper of Armageddon”. Let your gamers know your keeping up with the hobby by mentioning the new set to them. Make a jump over to ICv2 for more information.
Tournament Numbers Up
Here is some interesting numbers for libraries that have gaming fans. ICv2 spoke with Yumi Hoashi, VP of Konami Digital Entertainment, and she reports that Yu-Gi-Oh tournament participant numbers are up for 2011. The Regional Qualifiers was up 27% and the Championship Series was up 17%. This might be something to consider and possibly make libraries think about hosting game play for the different trading card games as events.
