Borders effects TokyoPop

ICv2 is reporting that the bankruptcy of Borders is negatively effecting TokyoPop.  TokyoPop stated that Borders owed the company and has placed them in the difficult position of having to layoff employees to help balance the losses that they have because of Borders actions.  Use the link below to read the full article.

100,000 Fans Contest

Here is another contest that librarians need to let their anime and manga patrons know about.  TokyoPop is having a contest on their Facebook page.  They are trying to get to 100,000 fans on their page.  Guidelines for the contest is also on their webpage.  Let your patrons know so they can check out the company’s Facebook page and possibly win some swag.

Anime Cons!

Here are some Anime Conventions that librarians might pass along to their patrons that live close to the area.  A Con is an experience unto itself so if you have any patrons that have not been to one let them know about these three up-coming Cons: Anime Matsuri, March 18-20, in Houston, Texas; Zenkaikon March 18-20, in Philadelphia, PA; and Mega Con, March 25-27 in Orlando, Florida.  Links to each Cons homepage are below so be sure to share them with your patrons.

Carnegie Hall to Show Miyazaki Shorts

Attention librarians in the New York area.  Inform your patrons about Carnegie Hall showing two Hayao Miyazaki shorts this month.  On March 26, Carnegie Hall will have two showings of Hayao Miyazaki’s Yado-Sagashi (House Hunting) and Mizugumo Mon Mon (Mon Mon the Water Spider).  The first showing is at 6:30 p.m. and the second showing of the two shorts will be at 8:30 p.m.  Tickets are $15 per person.  Follow the link to Anime News Network for the short article.

Pokemon Still Going Strong

ICv2 is reporting more 15th Anniversary news, see link below for full article.  The 14th and 15th feature films will debut in Japan during the month of July.  The titles of the two films are Pokemon: Vintini and the Black Hero: Zekrom and Pokemon: Vintini and the White Hero: Reshiram.  These films feature the Legendary Pokemon listed in the titles, which tie into the release of the Pokemon TCG: Black and White set that was mentioned in an earlier post, see second link.  When these two films make it to the U.S. to purchase these will be two films librarians will want to purchase to add to their anime collection for all of their Pokemon fans.

Devil May Cry Licensed

Anime News Network reports that Screen Gems, a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment, has licensed the rights to make a Devil May Cry feature film.  This will be exciting news to your library’s gaming, anime, manga, horror patrons.  Devil May Cry began as a gaming property, but it has spawned an anime series, manga series and light novel series.  Will it ever get made?  It has as good of a change as anything else, only time will tell.  Follow the link to the atricle.

X-Men Anime Redue

Marvel’s website has placed the X-Men Anime trailer up on their site to share.  Now you can just click on the link below without going to another webpage to see the trailer.  Again I would expect this to eventually hit our shores and when it does it would be a cool addition to your anime collection.
