We are just having fun reviewing and discussing comic books, graphic novels, manga, anime/animation, music and movies that we have recently read, listened to or watched.
Libraries that have an anime fan base and gaming fan base will want to keep this title on their radar. BioWare has announced that FUNimation and the Japanese studio T.O. Entertainment will be teaming up to bring out a Mass Effect anime movie. Production is already in motion and they are aiming for a Summer 2012 release to DVD. ICv2 has an article concerning Navarre Corporation selling FUNimation for $24 million to an investment group which includes founder Gen Fukunaga. Libraries that have patrons that enjoy the Supernatural television series, books, and graphic novels will want to get this Blu-Ray/DVD set. Warner Bros. Television has announced that Supernatural: The Anime Series will be released in the U.S. on July 26. Both lead actors, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, have lent their voices for all 22 episodes. Anime News Network is reporting that Funimation has acquired the rights of the 2009 anime film Tales of Vesperia to release in the United States. They also acquired rights for Fractale and Freezing. All of these are slated to be released next year. Follow the link to the article.

Marvel’s website, linked below, has announced that G4 will be airing the Ironman & Wolverine Anime series exclusively this July. Voice casting for Ironman is Adrian Pasdar and for Wolverine is Milo Ventimiglia. The article also states that G4 will be airing the Blade & X-Men Anime series later this year as well. This makes it one step closer for these series to be made available through Blue Ray/DVD. Librarians that keep track of the anime collection in their library will want to keep their ear to the ground for when these become available for purchase.

Anime News Network has posted that the author of Japanamerica, Ronald Kelts, will host a tribute of director Satoshi Kon at the Smithsonian Museum. Any librarians in the D.C. area will want to let their anime fans know about this event. The tribute is this Saturday, April 2, so there is no time to waste in letting your patrons know about this event. The day will start with a screening of Kiki’s Delivery Service and end with the tribute, by Kelts, for Satoshi Kon and then followed by a screening of Kon’s Paprika. 4Kids Entertainment has responded to the suit by TV Tokyo and Nihon Ad Systems. 4Kids has stated that the letter to terminate did not comply with the 10 business day notice and cure provision written in the agreement for the Yu-Gi-Oh license. They also stated that the termination was wrongful and devoid of any factual and legal basis. What will happen will ultimately be up to the courts. Anime News Network has a report that TV Tokyo and Nihon Ad Systems have filed suit against 4Kids Entertainment accusing them of “underpayments, wrongful deductions and unmet obligations” in regards to their contract for the rights of Yu-Gi-Oh. Anime News Network’s site is reporting that a new Duel Masters will be airing in the States. Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters will be on The Hub, which is a channel that Discovery Communications and Hasbro has recently started. It is stated that it will be released during the 2011-2012 television season. As I remember the first Duel Masters series, this will appeal to the ‘tween patrons in your library, that are also interested in Anime and/or TCG’s. Link on over to the full article below.
