This will appeal to your patrons that like anime and trading card games. Redakai: Conquer the Kairu is set to debut on Cartoon Network on July 23 at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a tie in trading card game Redakai Lenticular, however these cards are not scheduled until August.
CLAMP Festival
The CLAMP Festival 2011 Tokyo will be held on September 24 at Tokyo’s Ajinomoto Stadium. Tickets go on sale on August 27, and with your ticket of 7,350 yen or roughly $91.00 you will get an original manga booklet by CLAMP. If you know of any of your patrons that are planning a trip to Tokyo during this time you might let them know of this event.
6 New Licenses Announced by FUNimation
FUNimation announced at Anime Expo six new licenses that they acquired. The six titles are: science fiction story – Steins;Gate; a risque comedy – B Gata H Kei – Yamada’s First Time; post-apocalyptic – Deadman Wonderland; Fantasy – Baka and Test 2nd series; science fiction comedy – Cat Planet Cuties; and a financial thriller {C}. Live Kenshin!
In 2012 Warner Bros. Japan is planning on the debut of a live action movie of Nobuhiro Watsuki’s Rurouni Kenshin. The movie will star Takeru Satoh as Kenshin. The company is hoping this will become a series of movies if it proves popular enough. Hopefully when this finishes its run the Blu-Ray and/or DVD will be available for the North American market. Library Wars Becomes Movie
AnimeNews Network’s site says that a June flyer for Kadokawa Shoten’s Kadokawa Bunko imprint has announced that a film based on Hiro Arikawa’s Library War (Toshokan Senso) light novels is in the beginning stages. As with any movie in the beginning stages it could fall apart or make it to the theaters. Hopefully this will make it to the theaters and then be made available to the North American market to purchase in Blu-Ray and DVD formats.

Just Deserts!
If your patrons live in the Tokyo, Japan area or you have patrons that will be visiting Tokyo in the very near future and they are into anime and manga you might pass along this information. To celebrate the Fullmetal Allchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos movie Namco Ninja Town, starting June 25 and running through July 24, will feature 23 deserts based on the film. Ninja Town is an indoor theme park in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro ward. Above are three of the deserts: 1st – “Alphonse Ice Cream”; 2nd – “Flame Burger Set”; and 3rd – “Fluffy Fluffy Xiao Mei. Vampires are Still In
FUNimation has released Dance in the Vampire Bund the complete season. If you can you might want to preview this before adding it to your collection. It looks like it might be a mature title, but I’m not positive, I’m going by images that I have found online.
