Now For Scarlett Rabe’s Music Video “Battle Cry”

Now after seeing a brief video with Scarlett Rabe, you get to see her music video “Battle Cry”.  With Scarlett April and I disagree on how we feel about “Battle Cry”.  Here are April’s thoughts.

The openning of “Battle Cry” was really cool, I appreciate a hard bass. I was taken aback when she started singing and am still not sure if I liked it. I enjoyed the chorus of the song alright but I’m afraid that’s all. The song was alright, I didn’t reslly get anything special out of it and probably won’t go back to the song on my own.

-April B.
You can see that April was indifferent about the song.  I on the other hand liked Scarlett’s voice from the start.  It has a slightly unique quality to it.  I also enjoyed the tempo of the song and how Scarlett’s voice blended with the instruments in the chorus, but no enough to drown her out.  I also enjoyed the spotlight on the piano.  I miss the variety of instrumentation that used to be in songs.
So you can see April and I have differing opinions.  Which is great that’s what makes this world go round.  However, now you can watch and listen to Scarlett Rabe’s music video “Battle Cry” and make you on decision.  Thank you  to Scarlett for sharing this on her YouTube channel:

4e releases “swf+”

I love “Swift”! I was immediatly moving with it and can easily see this being played in a club. The hard bass and slower tempo mixes for perfect slow-grinding music. I would put this song up there with “Wicked Games” by The Weekend for slow club music. I’m definintley coming back to this song!

This is 4e’s premiere of their new track “swf+” at the 405.  They plan on releasing an EP entitle f0revr in March.  Until then check out “swf+”.

Who is Scarlett Rabe?

For those that don’t know of Scarlett Rabe, she started out as a piano prodigy at the age of 3.  She has millions of FaceBook fans and has turned her attention to being a singer/songwriter.  Below is a small clip that Scarlett did talking about herself.  Come back tomorrow to hear and see her music video “Battle Cry”.

Don’t Forget My Name

I love the smooth quality of Jessica’s music. The music gives off a smooth jazz feel that I could never get tired of. Jessica herself can definitely sing. She’s got a lower range that she can sing to no end. She’s unique in her own way and doesn’t sound to gruff and scratchy. I can easily see her performing in an after hours club with smoke in the air. I’ll definitely come back to her music and you should to if you have a soft spot for jazz.

New Tunes from Cooper

INDIE POP DARLING

MAKES WAVES WITH
EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE OF DEBUT SINGLE

LIVE ON THE FADER

Thursday, January 9 2014 – Indie rock has birthed a new voice in COOPER. The guitar slaying powerhouse debuts her first single “Heaviest of Weights” exclusively via TheFader.com. “Heaviest Of Weights” highlights COOPER’s infectious whimsical sound surrounded by emotion filled guitar strums and strong, yet angelic vocals.

The Fader says, “Montreal’s COOPER was recently signed to Mom + Pop by Sara Quin, of Tegan and Sara, and their affinity seems obvious—Big time pump-up, I bet this album’ll be great.”

I like the instrumentals a lot in Heaviest of Weights. Their use of percussion and guitar was awesome and added a lot to the song for me. I’ve always loved strong instrumentals in a song. The rhythms of their songs were all really cool and I never got bored listening to them. The opening lyrics for Heaviest of Weights were a bit too sharp to me. It felt strange having such a cool, mellow opening and then having a jarring higher pitched lyrics come after it. It stopped me from enjoying the song as much as I would’ve liked. Overall Cooper is definintly a group that will stay on my radar and I hope all of yours too. I can’t wait to watch them rise to their full potential. I have a feeling their going to be a force to reckon with.

SEXY & VIBRANT “HUNTERS” FOLLOWS

FILTER PREMIERE OF FIRST SINGLE “BON VOYAGE

Brooklyn based indie group Haunted Hauses are back with their next single “Hunters” available to listen, download exclusively via The Music Ninja.

Haunted Hauses began as a collective of friends and includes Leif Huckman (Ex Cops), Autry Fulbright (Trail of Dead) and Eric Rodgers (VHS or Beta). Seeking a musical outlet with a different sound from their current bands, they all wrote and recorded songs in between rehearsals and tours.

From the two songs “Hunters” and “Bon Voyage” the Haunted Hauses sound is an upbeat light sound.  I would say they fall within the Electronic Pop genre with their music.  The instruments don’t overpower the vocals, in “Hunters” they come close to that edge, but they don’t quite cross that line.  From what I have heard Haunted Hauses is a group you will want to check out.  So click on the two links above to listen to “Hunters” and “Bon Voyage”, I think you will like them.

Torgny Hits with “Oil Panic” Album

Norway-native Tørgny is back again with his highly anticipated sophomore LP, Oil Panic. Officially out November 8.

The first single off Oil Panic is the funktronica of Grønn Extra, a heavy hitter that is sure to stick with you after your first listen. Inspired by childhood memories of electro and thriving 80s urban pop culture, Torgny says “with Grønn Extra, it seemed like the only way forward was to acknowledge the past.” Reminiscent of Prince’s Lady Cab Driver and Chromeo’s Needy Girl, Torgny’s powerful vocals expertly layer atop the original melody and meticulously crafted rhythms to set this song in a category all its own.

Listen to Grønn Extra here.

Torgny has this late 1990’s – early 2000’s feel to their song above Gr0nn Extra.  It made me remember things like the “Axel F Theme” from Beverly Hills Cop, with Eddie Murphy.  It’s nice to hear music with influences from the past and not just literally doing a cover, though if done right I love covers to.  Check Torgny out I above, I believe you will like the sound.

Looked like a the guys had a great time.  The music was flowing and the atmosphere, with the grey filter that was used, I really liked.  It made Jesse’s outfit stand out even more.  Congrats to the band and keep up the hard work.  Be sure to click the link above to see the live performance.
