Here is another contest that librarians can tell their patrons about. This contest is in conjunction with Image Comics and their new title Red Spike. To enter the contest all one has to do is puchase a copy of Red Spike, which is only $1.00 and take a picture of themselves holding it in front of their favorite comic book store. After taking the picture the individual will need to post it on Red Spike’s Facebook fan page. The winner will then be drawn at random and they will recieve the original cover art of Red Spike done by Mark Texeira and a store will have a possbility of winning a piece of original interior art of the same title. New Biblical Game
ICv2’s site, linked below, has announced a new game based on Biblical epics. The game, Crossroads, is to have elements of a board game and of a Collectible Card Game. Librarians might mention this to their gamers that also belong to this faith and also their local church community, if they have a strong youth group. It is to have a Spring 2011 release.
FUNimation gets Mass Effect
Libraries that have an anime fan base and gaming fan base will want to keep this title on their radar. BioWare has announced that FUNimation and the Japanese studio T.O. Entertainment will be teaming up to bring out a Mass Effect anime movie. Production is already in motion and they are aiming for a Summer 2012 release to DVD. Contest on Dark Horse’s Site
Are there any librarians that have patrons that are fans of Dark Horse Comics? Papercutz’ Geronimo Stilton Hits New High
If librarians are not familiar with Papercutz they need to look them up. They produce some of the top graphic novel titles for children and middle schoolers. They have within their licenses the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew which are definite main stays in libraries. Papercutz’ Geronimo Stilton title has recently topped the 350,000 copies published. Naruto Chibi’s for OP
Libraries that have patrons that love the TCG/CCG’s and are involved in the organized play librarians will want to pass this news along to them. ICv2’s site, linked below, reports that in the Organized Play tournament kits there will be Naruto Chibi-style playmates that can be used as organized play prizes. The article also gives the list of Naruto CCG Shonen Jump Championship Tournaments will be at.
Navarre sells FUNimation
ICv2 has an article concerning Navarre Corporation selling FUNimation for $24 million to an investment group which includes founder Gen Fukunaga. The article says Navarre will still be in the picture as FUNimation’s exclusive distributor and its logistics fulfillment services provider. Use the link here to read the full article.

For librarians that missed the hardcover or were just waiting for the trade paperback to come out the wait is over. Patrica Briggs’ Mercy Thompson: Moon Called TPB is now available to purchase. Supernatural Anime
Libraries that have patrons that enjoy the Supernatural television series, books, and graphic novels will want to get this Blu-Ray/DVD set. Warner Bros. Television has announced that Supernatural: The Anime Series will be released in the U.S. on July 26. Both lead actors, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, have lent their voices for all 22 episodes.
