This weeks video comes to us from YouTuber StarWarsNerd456. Once you get past the opening he/she took the song “We Will Rock You” performed by Queen and edited it together with Star Wars The Clone Wars episode “Landing at Point Rain”. The sequencing of the lyrics and the characters fit together great….Anakin (Boy), Obi-Wan (Young Man) and Ki-Adi-Mundi (Old Man). If you wish to see the AMV you can find it on YouTube under the tag “Landing at Point Rain/We Will Rock You” or check it out below.
Fullmetal Alchemist Premiere
Librarians in the Burbank, California area let your patrons know about this upcoming event. This Saturday, the 17th, the Burbank International Film Festival will host the West Coast premiere of Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos. The viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the AMC Independent 6 theater.
Podcasting Schedule
These last few months have been busy. The crew hasn’t been able to get together for any recording time, because of work and personal schedules (vacations, weddings and so forth). Mickey and I plan on getting together at the end of September to record and if my family happens to see a movie we’ll record a review for it as well. Then there will be a slight shift in hosts because of conflicting work schedules. I’ll talk more about that when Mickey and I record. Anyway don’t forget about us. I’m still posting on the blog and we will be recording again very soon. Thanks for all of your support.
Bento Box Recipes
Here is something to tell your anime/manga patrons and in particular One Piece fans. Shueisha, a Japanese publishers, is releasing a recipe book inspired by Eiichiro Odo’s manga One Piece. The book will be entitled One Piece Kaizoku Bento Book and will sell for a suggested 1,380 yen or $18.00 in U.S. currency. If they have any friends in Japan or one of the Websites that sell Japanese anime/manga items might get this book for them to purchase. It would be a unique piece for thier collection and it would be fun translating the book to make the recipes.
Liberty Cards Available
Here is a way that your patrons, that enjoy comic books and manga, can support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF). Cryptozoic Entertainment is releasing the CBLDF Liberty Trading Cards this week. This Fund helps store owners and individuals that have been arrested for selling or owning comic books or manga that some find objectionable. While some of the titles you yourself might not like the Funds mission is one that library’s should support. The Fund helps defend challenges to the United States First Amendment. The packs have five cards per pack with a suggested price of $3.50 per pack. Inserts within the packs are randomly packed autograph and sketch cards. This could be a program where libraries could purchase some packages for giveaways at their library or purchase a box and sell the packs for $1.00 and then forward that money on to the CBLDF as an additional donation to the Fund. This is a way to show your patrons that not just novels are challenged, but also something they enjoy.

New Magic Cards
Here is something you can relay to your patrons that enjoy gaming. Wizards of the Coast will be releasing the Magic the Gathering Innistrad set September 30. The set will have 264 cards, which will be double faced. The main thing though you will want to tell your patrons about is that some stores will have pre-release parties on September 24 and 25. At these events participants will receive a “Mayor of Avabruck/Howlpack Alpha” promo card and an “Achievement” card, while supplies last. So tell them to check with their local store to see if their store will be participating in this pre-release event.
AMV of the Week
This weeks amv comes from YouTuber Parasite02. Parasite02 takes Enya’s song “Book of Days” and blends it with clips from Chrono Trigger. I love Enya’s work, but I wasn’t sure how it would work with an AMV. Surprisingly with the Chrono Trigger clips it works really well. The fantasy and fast paced elements of the clips work great with the tempo of “Book of Days”. You can find this AMV on YouTube with the tag “Chrono Trigger AMV – Chronology Anthology – Enya Book of Days” or you can watch it below. Thanks for a great AMV Parasite02.
New Yu-Gi-Oh Cards
Librarians might want to tell their Trading Card Gamers (specifically Yu-Gi-Oh gamers) about Kanomi’s next release. Coming in October, Kanomi is releasing the Yu-Gi-Oh, Legendary Collection 2: The Duel Academy Years binder. The binder will have 58 cards, which 28 will be foil cards. Rumored cards that come with the binder are 7 exclusive cards to the binder, 3 sacred beast cards and 3 Darkloid monsters (these monsters were previously only available as championship prizes). The suggested retail price for the binder is $29.99. Thanks to ICv2 for the news.
Charity Book on Kindle
If any of your patrons still want to give to the Japanese Society after the earthquake you might want to tell them about this possibility. The Amazon Kindle Store has an 84 page charity book featuring Gurren Lagann entitled “Believe in Yourself”. It sells for $9.99 and the proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist in the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake. Thanks to AnimeNews Network for this information.
