We are just having fun reviewing and discussing comic books, graphic novels, manga, anime/animation, music and movies that we have recently read, listened to or watched.
Angry Birds is set to get animated shorts that will be released in a variety of media outlets. The episodes are reported to be only 3 minutes in length and will hit different formats coming this Fall, with an animated movie possibly to follow in 2013 or 2014.
Japan’s Self-Defense Forces has been using anime inspired recruitment posters since 2010 to inspire young adults to join. The 2012 recruitment poster is pictured above. Welcome to Episode 15 of ComicPop Library. It this episode Richard, Chris and Matt review and discuss Protector by Larry Niven and Deltora Quest Manga Volume 1 & 2 by Emily Rodda. Also what’s the deal with a plucked Big Bird and other random things.
This weeks AMV is perfect for the library community. The AMV comes from YouTuber MrFernoid. It takes the song ‘Rock It” (Stanton Warriors Remix) by Sub Focus and edits the song with images from Star Wars Old Republic video game trailer. This didn’t have a lot of editing per say since it took whole scenes and just put the music to the images. However, this shows everyone that good music doesn’t have to be sung, it can also be played and I enjoyed this instrumental. The DC Nation programming block on the Cartoon Network will be adding a new show to its ranks in 2013. Beware the Batman will be the new CGI series. So all of your animation fans and Batman fans will be happy.
Here is something that your library’s Trading Card Gaming fans might like to know about. Wizards of the Coast is scheduled to release Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters this coming September. This game is currently the #2 TCG in Japan and Wizards is trying to release it in the North American market again. This will be supported with a anime series on The Hub TV Network.
A&E is developing O.C.T. (Occult Crimes Taskforce) an Image Comics property. Rosario Dawson and Gale Anne Hurd have been named the executive producers to bring this book to the small screen. A&E has a decent track record for it’s new television series, we’ll see if this actually will be made and put on the air waves for our viewing pleasure.
Bully is a documentary style movie that will have a limited release. But with this issue being nationwide I think it should be released Nationwide. This is one that each library will want to pick up for their collections. It looks to be a heart wrenching movie, which I bet most of adults can relate to from when they were in school themselves.
