Pravada Latest “Flatbush”

city bird publicitypravada

Pravada is now officially on my playlist. I loved there fast pace and the gritty effect the electric guitars gave it. I got a humongous Jack White feeling from Pravada and you know that’s always a good thing. You can hear the emotion and really see that Pravada believe in what their playing about. Usually I don’t take to well to music that sounds like its been haphazardly thrown together but in Pravda’s case they make it work wonderfully. The video was also pretty good and I didn’t see anything wrong nor particularly good with it. Pravda definitely has a good start and can only go up from here.

Haley Pharo’s Single “Prisoner”

musehaley

I really enjoyed the brief intro of “Prisoner” but I don’t think the feeling stayed for the whole song. It was a little too 90’s R&B for me. Neither the music nor Haley Pharo were very strong and clear. I like it when one or the other is strong so that the song doesn’t end up sounding mushy. I do get where Pharo is trying to go though and she’s on the right track. I liked the lighter melodies going along with a substantial bass, it just needs to be less muggy. Her music has a good beat that people will move to, as long as she keeps going in the direction I hope she is, she’ll do great.

This is were everyone can see that music hits people differently.  I enjoyed “Prisoner” and look forward to hearing more from Haley.  However, I am a Child of the ’80s/’90’s, which falls within what April was talking about. Also to me Haley’s voice – not style reminds me of Debbie Gibson’s, but that’s just me.  – Richard

The music video is below so you can check Haley Pharo out yourself.  It comes to us from “Haley Pharo” YouTube channel:

To show that music can touch the hearts of everyone The Mix brings their style of music to North America, traveling from their home country Germany.  The band is spotlighting “Give Autism a Voice” for this tour and the band is comprised of a variety of unique individuals.  As most will know, we have mentioned on a couple of our podcasts that Logan, one of our Co-Host, has Aspergers, so this hits close to home. Something a little extra about The Slants that didn’t come out in our visit with Simon.  The visit will be posted next, but Simon’s attempts to get The Slants name trademark have been stymied by the government.  Watch the video below, from “The Slants” YouTube channel, to get a little extra information set to their song “Let the Right One In”:

Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden Single “Blue Hotel”

museKate Tucker1

Usually I don’t like higher pitched female vocals, but in Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden’s case I really liked it. Kate was softer but she wasn’t wispy. There’s a big difference between singing higher with breath control than without and Kate proves that. She had enough support and strength behind her sound to work with the rest of the music instead of getting overpowered by it. Speaking of, I loved the groove from the instrumentals. The more rock feel gave their sound just the right amount of edge to really stand out in a good way. From the very beginning I was really into the music. Their name is a little long for me but that’s a minor detail, I know plenty of bands that have longer names that have gone big. This is another great band to keep your eye on.

Young Rising Sons single “King of the World”

museyoung sons

Young Rising Sons is my type of music! From their look to their sound everyone appeals to my tastes artistically. I always talk about wanting crisper vocals but sometimes the opposite works just as good-if not better. Having crisper instrumentals with a more static sound for vocals is brilliant and makes the music even more interesting. The lyrics are amazing, poetic and truthful. The instrumentals also stand on their own and keep the song moving and the listener interested because they aren’t too repetitive. Young Rising Sons is great and I think I just found my back to school obsession.
