I just wanted to let our brothers and sisters in Japan know that we are thinking about them with the recent earthquake and Tsunami. We hope all of your loved ones are safe and well. I also want to extend this to all other countries that this is effecting.
Spidey Setting Records
Click on over to Yahoo, below, about Amazing Fantasy #15 selling for a record $1.1 million. This of course is the debut of Spider-Man. If you have any collectors of comic books that come to your libraries this can give you a talking point with them. This will demonstrate, even if you don’t really like the medium, you are interested in your patrons and what their interests happen to be.

First Look at X-Men Anime Characters
Let your library patrons that are interested in comic books and Japanese anime know about the link provided below. Marvel’s site has posted an article and has a couple of images from the new X-Men Anime series that will be coming out in Japan. When this series comes to U.S. shores libraries will need to consider purchasing this to have a great tie-in with United States comic books and Japanese Anime. You could use this to create new fans for both formats.

Green Lantern Animated Movie
Tomb Raider Reboot
ICv2 reports that Graham King, GK Films, has acquired the rights to the Tomb Raider film rights. The site mentions Angelina Jolie, but really she has had her turn. Time for some new blood. GK Films recent credits are The Town and Rango. If handled correctly this can be a cool franchise. Link to the article below.
Battle: Los Angeles
This will appeal to your comic book, science fiction, and gaming patrons that visit your library. This looks good, but one never knows until you see it. If it makes money for the study I could see this becoming a franchise. They could do movies over the same invasion just in different parts of the world and one wonders if this is what they have in mind since they specify Los Angeles in the movies title. Check it out this weekend.
Ironman 3 News
ICv2, linked below, is reporting that Shane Black will not only direct, but write Ironman 3. The article says that Marvel wasn’t happy with Ironman 2’s storyline. Therefore, they are at this time having Ironman take on real life type situations instead of the next guy in a super-suit.
Guild Jewellery & DC Comics
DC’s website has an article for all you fans out there that like your bling. Guild Jewellery and DC Comics, to celebrate 75 years of DC Comics, has designed several pieces of jewellery that is available to purchase. Pictured above is a necklace and pendent, charm bracelet, and earrings that are just a little of what they have available. The first link is to DC’s short article and the second link is to Guild Jewellery’s site which tells you where the jewelry is available to purchase.
Red Riding Hood
Magic Tree House Anime
This will be something to catch the eye of librarians. Anime News Network, linked below, is reporting that Mary Pope Osborne’s Magic Tree House has been green-lit to be an animated film. If everything moves forward without any complications the article says that the film will be released in Japan in 2012. This is one that I would say will be translated for the U.S. market. This will be a great promotional tool when it does hit the U.S. to make displays featuring it and the children book series by Osborne to encourage more readership for the series.
