C2E2 this Weekend

Librarians that live in the Chicago area don’t forget, if they don’t already know, to let your comic book fans know about C2E2 this weekend.  This could even be an event for the library.  If you live outside of the Chicago area get a group together and car pool to the convention.  Conventions are always more fun when you have other people to share them with.  Linked below is the conventions site so you can get information on who will be attending and how much tickets will be at the door.  Have fun this weekend.

The Blue Scare

Even though these little ones scare some people they are adored by many more.  This looks like a good movie for the kids and can open the door for libraries that have any of the old Smurf collected edition comic books or the old cartoon series.  I know my daughter still has one collect edition comic book that we found at a garage sale and won’t give it up.  So these little blue Smurfs still have a appeal.  Check out the trailer below from Yahoo.

Possible RASL Film

ICv2, linked below, is reporting that RASL by Jeff Smith (Most known for his Bone series) has been optioned by Lionel Wigram, the producer of the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes films.  This is a Science Fiction Parallel Universe story featuring a former military scientist turn art thief.  Even though this might be a good film I’m still waiting for Jeff Smith to allow a studio to make a Bone animated adaptation.  But until then we might get RASL.
