Justice League Movie

DC’s site, linked below, is reporting that Warner Bros. President Jeff Robinov stated that a new script is in the works for a Justice League movie, hoping to get it to the onscreen in 2013.  He also stated that after Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. is planning to “reinvent” the Batman franchise.

Resident Evil Playing League

Libraries that have Trading Card Gamers will want to pass this along to them.  Resident Evil: Alliance TCG came out in January and proved to be a hit, with an expansion set planned.  Because of this, Bandai is planning to release a league play program.  Think of the Magic The Gathering & Yu-Gi-Oh league play tournaments.  Tell your patrons to ask their local hobby shops if they plan on taking part of this program.  Link on over to ICv2’s site for the article.

Follow-up to Zombies in the Library

Attention all libraries!!!  Here is an opportunity for you to do a webcomic/graphic novel.  Mike Hall, the writer/artist of Library of the Living Dead, has extended an offer to all libraries that would have an interest in creating a webcomic/graphic novel.  Mike will assist you with your project.  You would have to get in touch with him to discuss the details.  He has graciously allowed us to provide his E-Mail address so librarians can get in touch with him.

Paper and Ink Shortage

Anime News Network has an article that will be of interest to libraries that purchase manga.  Japan is experiencing a paper and ink shortage because of the earthquake and tsunami.  Therefore, many manga, newspapers, and magazines are being delayed.  This will of course effect the manga industry in translating new material to the international market.  Some of your libraries titles might be delayed because of this, but tell your patrons to be patient and understanding (which most will be) of what has happened in Japan.  Link below to the full article.

WonderCon 2011

I hope all the librarians in the San Francisco area have told their patrons about WonderCon.  WonderCon 2011 is fast approaching, like this weekend, April 1 – 3.  If your patrons don’t already know about you might mention it or post a bulletin about it with the sites web address, which I have linked below.  Everyone that is going have a fun time.

Booster Gold and Blue Beetle

Librarians that have fans of Smallville will want to pay attention.  For many fans this is bitter sweet because this is supposed to be Smallville’s last season, but the writers are still bringing in DC characters.  This is great because otherwise fans of the comics might never get to see them.  In an episode scripted by Geoff Johns, he is bringing in the characters Booster Gold and Blue Beetle.  Many librarians will be scratching their heads about who these two characters are, but believe me DC Comic book fans will know them and will be great talking points for you when you are visiting with your patrons.  The image above is what they are supposed to look like in the episode.  Follow the link for more information.

Duel Masters Gets Another Chance

Anime News Network’s site is reporting that a new Duel Masters will be airing in the States.  Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters will be on The Hub, which is a channel that Discovery Communications and Hasbro has recently started.  It is stated that it will be released during the 2011-2012 television season.  As I remember the first Duel Masters series, this will appeal to the ‘tween patrons in your library, that are also interested in Anime and/or TCG’s.  Link on over to the full article below.
