Surf Vietnam Latest Single “October Baseball”

black-lion-prsurf-vietnam

Surf Vietnam’s latest single “October Baseball”, from their album Funambulism, is a call back to the 1960’s beach music.  The single is also a story driven piece that talks about a dream of playing baseball for the character of the song and him finally taking a chance at it.  Technically the vocals could have been layered more prominently in the single.  The instruments at times overpowered the vocalist, which could have been intentional with the style of music they were going for.  The ending of the song shifts gears on listeners, but it stays within the same decade of music, to a “sock hop” feel.  Since this transition was within the same decade of music styles it didn’t bother me much.  With the World Series just under way “October Baseball” from Surf Vietnam seemed natural so enjoy it through BandCamp – Richard:

Scott Sorry is hitting our listeners between the eyes with his rockin’ single “Broken Hearts and 45’s”.  You can hear the mixture of hard rock and punk right from the start of this single.  Scott’s voice doesn’t take a back set to the vocals though.  He’s right out there in front giving it additional fullness with his vocals.  You can find more of Scott Sorry’s music with his latest album When We Were Kings, but for a bit of a taste from the album Scott Sorry wants you to rock out with his single “Broken Hearts and 45’s” through SoundCloud – Richard:

Didi Releases Music Video for “Tell Me Why” Feat Geo Da Silva

effective immediately prdidi

Didi is letting our listeners check out her music video for the single “Tell Me Why” featuring Geo Da Silva.  The single is pure pop dance music, which as all of you know I really enjoy.  For me this makes me want to just get up and move the body.  The rhythm is right were it needs to be and not to over bearing and Didi’s voice blends in with it nicely, since her voice isn’t being over powered.  When Geo Da Silva comes in for his feature performance it rolls in smoothly and doesn’t disrupt the flow of the single, really good job with this.  Now the music video.  Not quite sure what the director was going for here.  With the rhythm of “Tell Me Why” I expected this to be a high energy video, but the director decided to have Didi and her entourage are kind of stiff and when Geo comes in you feel the energy spike and have a fun feel.  To me the video should have had this fun energy feel to it through out, but like I said director’s decision there and it might work for others.  This is a fun upbeat song so you need to have a listen to Didi’s “Tell Me Why”, featuring Geo Da Silva, with her music video through her YouTube channel – Richard:

Ben Talmi’s Lyric Video for “Play”

ben-talmi

Ben Talmi, recently signed with Communion Records, is sharing his lyric video, for his single “Play”, with our listeners.  This single starts out sounding like a type of lullaby feel to it and then the chorus takes you into a more pop beat, but still at a slower rhythm.  When you watch the lyric video, individuals with seizures might be aware that the way the video is spliced together it has kind of a strobe effect.  Also with the video, and I wonder if this was intentional because the way the song feels, when you get to the chorus many will see the influence of Sesame Street with the pronunciation shadows.  Here’s Ben Talmi’s “Play” lyric video through his YouTube channel – Richard:

Producer Tulpa is sharing with our listeners his single “GNATS” which features vocals by BLANKTS.  “GNATS” is steeped in the electronica music and is right at the doorstep of experimental music.  Sounds are played with, but not to the extent that they are jarring.  The vocals that BLANKTS provides helps listeners smooth out the tone of the single as well.  This is one that if you enjoy this genre of music you’ll get into right away, if you don’t normally listen to alternative or experimental music give check out Tulpa’s “GNATS” featuring BLANKTS, through SoundCloud, and you might find a new area of music to explore – Richard:
