Morgan Shaughnessy is re-releasing her EP Makeout Scars and Breakout Stars, for the holidays. If you notice the Christmas Tree on the cover and with this EP, since it is for the holidays, not only has the tree on the cover but an additional song for the holidays entitled “Pretty Colored Lights”. Lady Low reworks the single “Baby Baby”, originally released by The Vibrators in ’77. If you are not prepared for Lady Low’s sound it will probably make you say what is going on. However, once you get into the song and the style that they are singing, which they have termed “Romance Rock”, it is almost hypnotic. The single is slowed down and the lower voice register they sing in is also drawn out in the lyrics. Life Leone is begin their tour to promote the EP Comes Crashing In, with the release of the single “I Can’t Say No” . The group definitely has that rocking feel and I see were they get the term fuzzy rock. With the guitar so loud it is the star of the music. However, the lyrics are decent and the lead singers voice sounds good. They don’t have to hide him, just let it all flow naturally and they would be even a more powerful rock group. Vok has given us a nice ballad to listen to with “Eg bio pin” (I’ll Wait for You). This is a very emotional and drawn out song. It has a little techno feel with slow jass mixed in for an interesting mix. The vocals are really clear, but don’t over power the music. I’m usually not a fan of remixes but Dekoder’s remix of Haley Pharo’s single “Sorry For Not Being Sorry” is really good. Check it out through SoundCloud below, I think it will make your head bob to the music – Richard:
Strange was the first word that popped into my head when I heard Vök’s new single. I was immediately interested when the song started and got into the instrumentals right away. It was very flowy and smooth which reminded me of The Neighborhood. Hearing sounds that would normally clash work together so well is always amazing to hear. My only problem is the vocalist. I didn’t mind her singing in a foreign language because if she puts her emotions into the song I’ll still understand what she’s saying. I just couldn’t get passed how mellow it sounded. The song as a whole was very much like water and I needed a rock to anchor myself. In this case the vocals are supposed to be my rock but they were just another current.
