30th Anniversary of Macross

For the 30th Anniversary of Macross a traveling exhibit is making its rounds across Japan.  This last Saturday it opened at the Sunshine City Complex in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.  The exhibit is called “30th Anniversary of Macross Super Dimension Exhibition~Valkyrie de Sasotte!~”.  The exhibit features several Macross images and statues, but the big center piece for the exhibit is the full-scale VF-25F Messiah Valkyrie Variable Fighter.  Because of the smaller size of this complex only the top portion of the Valkyrie is on display.  When the exhibit makes it way to Osaka it will be in a larger complex and will have the complete Valkyrie on display.  For more images follow the link below:

Did Someone Say Nevermore

The Raven will probably appeal to several of your patrons.  With John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe it should be a well acted part, I’ve always enjoyed his movies.  Thanks to YahooMovies for the following trailer:

Pirates are on the High Seas Again

Pirates: Band of Misfits is a new offering in the animation full length movie category.  This is an English production that comes from the same studio that makes the Wallace & Gromit animation.  So if your patrons are fans of Wallace & Gromit, they will want to check out Pirates.  Thanks to YahooMovies for the following trailer:

DC Entertains a Chicken?!

If you don’t know about Robot Chicken, your patrons that like comic books and animation in particular will know Robot Chicken.  This show takes popular entertainment and spoofs them.  The show is usually a bunch of clips from a variety of entertainment properties and has done full episodes that spoofed Star Wars.  This is the first time the Chicken will have a special show spoofing just DC Comics.  Be warned and let your parents know that this show is for a mature audience and might not be suitable for young viewers.  No date has been released yet for when the special will air, but all your Chicken fans will love it.

Grand Opening of Gundam Collection

If you know anyone that is traveling to Tokyo this is one stop they will definitely want to visit.  At Diver City Tokyo Plaza on Tokyo’s Odaiba island the new Gundam Front Tokyo Entertainment Complex had it’s Grand Opening on April 19.  The video below is courtesy of AnimeNews Network, YouTube, and Mainichi Shimbun newspaper’s Mantan TV website.  The video starts outside the complex, moves into the Gundam Cafe/Gift Shop and then into the collection of models.  It doesn’t show the complete collection, but it gives you an idea of what is in store for you.

Don’t Forget Locke and Key

Locke and Key is written by Joe Hill and is one of my favorite reads.  IDW Publishing has published 4 collected editions of this title and has a fifth in the works.  The title is geared for upper teens (15 and Up) and adult readers.  If your library does not have this title yet I strongly recommend it.
