Librarians that live in the Chicago area don’t forget, if they don’t already know, to let your comic book fans know about C2E2 this weekend. This could even be an event for the library. If you live outside of the Chicago area get a group together and car pool to the convention. Conventions are always more fun when you have other people to share them with. Linked below is the conventions site so you can get information on who will be attending and how much tickets will be at the door. Have fun this weekend.

Conan Teaser Trailer
The Blue Scare
Even though these little ones scare some people they are adored by many more. This looks like a good movie for the kids and can open the door for libraries that have any of the old Smurf collected edition comic books or the old cartoon series. I know my daughter still has one collect edition comic book that we found at a garage sale and won’t give it up. So these little blue Smurfs still have a appeal. Check out the trailer below from Yahoo.

Possible RASL Film
ICv2, linked below, is reporting that RASL by Jeff Smith (Most known for his Bone series) has been optioned by Lionel Wigram, the producer of the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes films. This is a Science Fiction Parallel Universe story featuring a former military scientist turn art thief. Even though this might be a good film I’m still waiting for Jeff Smith to allow a studio to make a Bone animated adaptation. But until then we might get RASL.
Gaiman making a Journey to the West
Librarians will know the name Neil Giaman from his novels and young adult novels. However, comic book fans also know him for his writing skills in the comic book medium, most notably from Sandman published through DC Comic Vertigo imprint. Giaman has been signed on to adapt the Ming Dynasty classic novel Journey to the West into a screenplay.
The film is to be shot in China, but will have an English dialogue with Western and Chinese actors. Many of your library’s manga and anime fans will recognize this title since it has been adapted into both mediums. The most popular versions are Dragon Ball and Saiyuki. Therefore, the library will already have patrons interested in this film when it becomes available. Link below to ICv2 for the full article.
Turtles Dude
Nickelodeon has announced that in the fourth quarter of 2012 they will be debuting a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. It will be computer generated and will spot light the turtles martial arts skills more than it has been in previous animated series. Once it is established it is reported that the toy market will also be looked at for some new TMNT figures. Link over to ICv2’s site for the full article.
RoboCop Rebooted
ICv2 reports that Josh Zetumer has been hired to script a remake of RoboCop. MGM is trying to reboot this character as a possible franchise property. I have to admit I did like the first RoboCop, but the other two not so much. We’ll see if this moves forward past this stage and if it does hopefully it will be a decent film.
