George R.R. Martin Adaptation

Batnam and Dynamite join forces for a comic book/graphic novels rights to George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series A Song of Fire and Ice.  The way it looks issue will be released first and then the collected editions will be available.  When the collected editions do come out libraries will definitely want to pick this up.  The article also mentions that HBO has the rights to do a TV series which will fuel interest in this series.  Follow the link below to the full article at ICv2.

Dark Horse with More Prose

Dark Horse Comics announced that they are continuing on publishing prose novels.  Later this year they will be publishing Supernatural Noir, edited by Ellen Datlow and The Damned Highway, edited by Nick Mamatas.  Both titles are horror anthologies and will be available later this year.  This will be another opportunity for libraries to tie in their graphic novel collections with their book collection, specifically the horror genre.  Follow the link to read the full article.

Univ. of British Columbia and Anime

The University of British Columbia’s journey Cinephile is planning an issue featuring anime.  A call for articles have been sent out, once published anime will make it into academia, which doesn’t happen very often.  Anime like manga, graphic novels and American animation do not receive many alcaldes of this nature.  This link will lead you to Anime News Network’s short article on this.

America’s Greatest Otaku

TokyoPop has posted a trailer of their upcoming documentary, on Hulu,  American’s Greatest Otaku on YouTube.  If your anime and manga fans at your library don’t know about this yet, what are you waiting for?

Cameron still interested in Battle Angel Alita

The long drawn out process of bring Battle Angel Alita to the big screen is still in the running.  Anime News Network reports that James Cameron is still interested in bringing this property to fruition.  Will this ultimately happen?  Many fans want it in their local theaters, but who knows.  Link below to the article.
