For all the libraries that have anime and manga fans more times than not they are also TCG (Trading Card Game) fans. Pokemon, which turned 15 this year, has new decks coming out for 2011. Tell your TCG fans to begin watching for theme decks on April 6th and booster packs on April 25. Link below to the article at ICv2.
Lost Planet Manga
Here is another title for librarians to keep their eyes out for when it is translated in English. The first compiled book of Takeshi Miyazawa’s Lost Planet: Bound Raven is being released this week. This will be a great crossover book for Teen/Young Adult librarians to use to get some of your library’s gamers into graphic novels. Since it is based on a video game I’m pretty positive this will be adapted for the English audience. Follow the link back to Anime News Network for the short article.
Arakawa to Create New Title
Anime News Network is reporting that Hiromu Arakawa, creator of Fullmetal Alchemist, will have a new title begin in the 19th issue of Shonen Sunday on April 6th. The site did not have the title of the new title, however as popular are Fullmetal has been in the States you can bet that a distributor will pick up this new title of Arakawa’s when it becomes available. Librarians don’t have to worry about this now, but keep it in the back of your mind for in the future. Link to the article below.
X-Men Anime Redue
Marvel’s website has placed the X-Men Anime trailer up on their site to share. Now you can just click on the link below without going to another webpage to see the trailer. Again I would expect this to eventually hit our shores and when it does it would be a cool addition to your anime collection.

B.P.R.D. Creative Team at Emerald City Con
Librarians in the Seattle area take note. This is a cool chance to see the creative team of B.P.R.D., from the pages of Hellboy, at the Emerald City ComicCon. The Con is being held March 4-6, so let your patrons that love them some B.P.R.D. know about this as soon as possible. If any of your patrons are going you can also ask them to bring you some swag back to you can put up in your library for a display. Royal Wedding in Graphic Novel Form
Here is a graphic novel report by ICv2’s site that might get some cross promotion within your library. U.K. publisher AAM/Markosia is releasing Kate & William: A Very Public Love Story in April. This could bring in your non-fiction readers, specifically those that have an interest in the United Kingdom and the Royal Family. Check out the full article on the link below.
Preacher gets some Direction
ICv2’s site is reporting that D.J. Caruso has been signed to direct a Preacher movie. The director is fine, my concern is Hollywood trying to make this into a movie. Unless this becomes a franchise I would think this would be better served as a HBO series or the like. AMC’s Walking Dead comes to mind as how this can be produced. Link below to the brief article.
More Zombies & Robots in Hollywood
IDW’s site is reporting that it’s title Zombies vs. Robots has been optioned by Sony Pictures. The article also has ISBN and pricing information if some libraries are interested in picking the titles up for their collection. Link to the article to read the full article.
